On August 15, 2012, I was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a progressive genetic neurological disorder that affects the nervous system. Over time, the condition causes increasing damage that leads to uncoordinated muscle movement, muscle weakness, and loss of sensation. As the condition progressed, it significantly impacted my mobility and physical control, which is why I now use a wheelchair. Living with Friedreich’s Ataxia has required constant adaptation, but I continue to focus on maintaining strength, independence, and quality of life despite the challenges.
