Biography
I was born Feb 25th 1979 8 weeks premature I weighed only 3lbs and was not supposed to live very long. I spent several weeks in the ( nic unit) My parents Roy Zinkiewicz a NYPD Detective (now ret.) and mother leonora Zinkiewicz had noticed a couple years later the i was not mobile like other kids my age. My parents then took me to the doctor where they where told I would never got out of a wheelchair or be able to take care of myself. My father had a Co worker at work tell Him about a Doctor by the Name of Leon Root at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC that was the ” the best of the best” after several attempts to get a Appt with him ( about 12 weeks later) Myself my father and Mother went to see Dr. Root. ( at this time i was about 4 years old) After being seen by DR. Root he told my parents that he would not be able to get me to run a marathon BUT up on two crutches. Well lets just just say that was not easy. I was in a full body cast for my chest all the way to my toes. ( spiker cast) for ten weeks. I had a bar that was between my legs so my parents and grandparents where able to menuver me around easier. After getting the cast off and doing countless hrs of physical therapy i took my first steps on two wooden crutches. On May 14th 1984 I became a big brother to my new little sister Kristin. We were close but dont get me wrong we faught like ever other brother and sister did. Our Mom just so happened to keep a certain kitchen item in the car to keep us in line when we went out ( wooden spoon).. Over the course of the yrs i continued with therapy and countless other surgeries i continued to improve in alot of ways.. In December 1987 we moved to a small town in Spring Hill Florida. My family NEVER treated me any different then any of the other kids for the most part. I attended normal Schools and all mainstream classes. When I was about 13 yrs old i jioned a bowling league on saturday mornings. I would use one crutch walked up to the lane and threw the ball i had a pretty mean hook. I competed in several tournaments across the state of Florida. my all time highest came was a 238 I attended Frank W Springstead High School Where i started lifting weights. In March 1993 I tried out for the weightlifting team for the school. At this point I was on two crutches. I MADE THE WEIGHTLIFING TEAM. I was a varsity member all four years of School. the beginning of my Senior Year i told my classmates when I graduate I will walk across the stage without my crutches. In June of 1997 when they called my name I looked at my classmates lifted up both crutches up in the air and walked across the stage. i got a standing ovation. After graduated I attended community College and worked at a Gym Atheletic Clubs of America. I then decided to go to saint Leo University to continue my education. while still attending college in June of 2001 i starting working at the Pasco County Sheriffs Office as a dispatcher. In 2008 I retired from the Sheriffs Office as a Communications Training Officer. At This time I relocated to Crossville Tn where I started working for Cumberland County e 911 as a dispatcher. After about two years later while sitting at work i was approached by the chief of patrol he sat down and said I should put in for a spot for a reserve deputy at the sheriffs dept. I looked at him like he was nuts. i said chief ( at this time i was only using one crutch.) I said chief and i point toward my crutch i said that thing is not exactly a fashion statement. He said I am serious yes your as not going to be able to chase after anybody but you are in better shape then most. After having a long talk with my father ( now RET NYPD) He said i will support you in anything you want to do. just please dont get disapointed if it does not work out. At the time there only a couple of spots open i attended the classes for the Reserve Deputy spot which was classroom time, highspeed driving courses and the shooting range. I passed them all!!! After the classes were finished ( a couple weeks later) I got a phone call from reserve Sgt Jon Hall he asked me to come up and talk with him I was SO NERVOUS. We talked about thing for a while, then his said i have one problem i have this item in my drawer and i need to get rid of it I just looked at him. he went in his drawer and then tossed me a sheriffs badge and said you did it welcome aboard. I was like HOLY SHIT REALLY he said yes sir…I had always wanted to be a police officer to follow in my dads foot steps. A few yrs went by i continued to workout off and on here and there to help my in my job. over this time i still worked at dispatch as well as the Sheriffs office in several divisions ( patrol, transport team, administrative support, & corrections ( currently assigned) Around late 2012 I met Shannon (my wife) she is my Rock between her and my daughters Hailey and Courtney they make me feel like the sky is the Limit. On Sept 23th 2014 (Haileys) 16th Birthday approx 330 am cst hailey came crashing in my room to wake me after a long night at work SHE SAID YOUR DADS ON THE PHONE. i answered the phone and it was my dad he said ” your sister is gone” i said where did she go??? he said “Scott” She passed away” I was in shock..she left behind my nephew Kole 2 years old and my niece. kimber 6 months old.( passed away from complications from kidney stones at 30 years old) While waiting for Shannon come home from work after receiving the news i remember calling my Partner at the time Sgt James Scott to tell him what had happened James and I are more then Partners we are best friends. i can remember Shannon getting home we were both in shock over this i can remember punching walls yelling and screaming. Let me tell you if it wasnt for Shannon Hailey and Courtney I dont think I would ever have made it through this horrible time. About A year or so went by and i decided that i was going to do a bodybuilding Competion and dedicated to my my sister ( she was one that always pushed me when we where kids) A short Time after that I made contact with Ron and Rebecca Hawkins ( coaches) told them what my plan was and they said ok but it was going to be a challenge. For the next 14 weeks I was in the gym twice a day and on a very strict diet. I lost about 35 lbs total. In Nov 2015 I stepped on the stage to compete for the very first time. Ifbb pro brandon Curry’s Music City Muscle. I was so nervous but manged to get 4th place and got a standing ovation at the night show. I was hooked. after that competion I continued to train to improve. In mid 2016 I started to train for my first appearance at the 2016 Flex lewis Classic. But this time things were a little different my daughter hailey decided that she was going to compete as well. For the next 4 month months we were both in the gym twice a day and on a very strict diet. at this time Hailey was still in High School playing Softball working and prepping our meals. I was working two jobs Courtney was playing soccer for School and there was practices and games through out the week. Shannon also traveled 200 miles a day to work for the United States Post Office. Things were Crazy. Summer of 2016 Hailey and I stepped on stage. Hailey place 2nd in the teen bikini division and I won the bantam weight open bodybuilding weight class. After that show I was approached by Shannon Fountain I photographer who wanted to do A photo shoot of me training. I was featured in TRAIN magazine. On Oct 8th 2016 I married Shannon the best decision I ever made. Over the Course of the next yr and a half I was still in the gym just not focusing on doing any shows just enjoying life. In the beginning of 2018 I talked it over with Shannon and said lets do one more show. i slowly starting focusing on diet and training by June things were in full swing Hailey was starting college and Courtney was going to be a junior in high School. Once again things for this prep where very different now my wife Shannon was training me for this prep. she was in the Gym with me almost everday. and boy did you push me!!! Hailey continued to prep my meals and Courtney was like the junk food police she made sure I did not cheat on my diet. Oct 13 2018 i stepped on of stage for what I though was going to be my last time. I felt I came in the best shape that i ever had. Saturday morning was prejudging My head was just not in it. Probably just tired. After Prejudging while walking down the hall to get something to eat I was stopped by 7 time 212 Mr Olympia James Flex Lewis himself we talked for about 15 minutes. he just gave me some advice and a pep talk he said just go out there and do your thing. Well now its time for the night show with my family in attendance i go out there and did my routine it went great once again the crowd loved it. I had won my class yet again. while on stage the master of ceremonies david Bay had some very kind words to say he said ” I dont wanna say this man is battling Cerebal Palsey clearly you are kicking its ASS” THE CROWD WENT CRAZY ANOTHER STANDING OVATION… after that was the over all pose down with other class winner which was awesome and fun. after that as i am back stage with my coach Ron getting my stuff together i was once again approach by david bay he said are you ready to go back out there I sad i am done what do you mean he said no you are going back out there I said no i am not he said YES you are you are going out there to have a pose down with flex and the other ifbb pros. myself coaches or the crowd had no idea this was about to happen. while flex and the othe pro were out there doing there thing the DJ stopped the music and flex was like what are you doing david bay then got on the mic and said flex this my be your house but I have the mic. he said i have one more person I wanna bring out YOUR BANTAM WEIGHT WINNER SCOTT ZINKIEWICZ the place exploded and he I was doing most Muscular poses and side chest shots with 7 time Mr o and two other pros there was nothing like it.. after that was all over while walking to meet up with my family and was stopped had to be 100 times for pics and hand shakes with total stranger.
Now that i am Nationally Qualified this is only the Beginning I will be on stage once again BETTER THEN EVER ! none of this would have been possible with out all the love and support from my BEAUTIFUL WIFE SHANNON AND DAUGHTERS HAILEY AND COURTNEY AND TO MY PARENTS FOR RAISING ME RIGHT TO HAVE THE DRIVE AND DETERMINATION TO NEVER GIVE UP!!!
