Biography

I’m 38 years old. I was born prematurely. While I was in the hospital as an infant I stop breathing. With lack of oxygen I contracted cerebral palsy. I grew up on a farm with a disability was very difficult. My father had a difficult time understanding a disability. He was very physically abusive towards me. At the age of eight. I moved away from my family and I was placed in foster care. Through the years I went through 12 different foster homes. Some of those homes were just like being at home and very abusive mentally and physically. At the age of 18 I moved out on my own and I had my own struggles with alcohol and drugs. By the age of 23 I almost lost my life to alcohol. At that point I decided to turn my life around and I thought there was got to be something better life than this. I turned my life to God started attending church and changing my lifestyle.

I started working out at a young age. It became a serious hunger after I turn my life around it was an Avenue to overcome difficulties. I’ve always wanted to be a bodybuilder growing up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger and other people in the sport.

  • What happened? Why are you in the Wheelchair?

    I was born with spastic cerebral palsy. I had too much oxygen at Birth which damage the cerebral cortex. I struggle with body movements and spastic movements. They can happen at any time. I also struggle with balance and reaction time.

  • Why did you get started?

    I got my start because I wanted to be stronger than the next person. Being physically abused as a child creates lasting scars. I wanted to be able to protect myself and the people around me and having a disability made that difficult. Arnold Schwarzenegger he's one of the main reasons why I started weight lifting he was Stronger then the next person I wanted to be that. Studying Arnold from my youth and thinking that he conquered the world coming from a tough spot in life I wanted to do the same. I seriously started when Nick Scott gave birth to the sport for people with disabilities. The belief that Nick Scott has for other people adds fuel to the fire to be able to do what the world thinks you can't do.

  • What made you want to compete?

    I want to show the world anything is possible no matter what you have been through or where you come from. I want to be a leader I want to be a follower and I want to be a ground breaker and competing is all a part of it.

  • How did you go about doing it?

    Following the advice of Nick Scott and finding support around my community.

  • What motivates you?

    People motivate me. Iron motivates me. Jesus motivates me.

  • What suggestions or tips do you have for others?

    Don't give up on your dreams! Don't allow people to hold you down from what you want to do. Anything is possible for those who believe. All you have to do is believe keep moving towards the goal day by day.
