I am Philip D’Angelo, or Phil, a divorced 50 yr. old New York native who now resides in Charlotte North Carolina. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1996, I thought nothing of it as all I had was a slight limp and occasionally slurred my speech. As the disease progressed, greater disabilities ensued, whereas I felt the world was coming to an end. Unfortunately,I was forced to retire in January 2001. I thought and felt like life really sucked.
After a few years, I developed a different perspective, although walking with a walker, I was still upright and becoming content with my situation. Days were quite the roller coaster ride, but my personal demeanor was getting better. Disability once again increased progressively whereas my wife of 20 years left me in March 2011 stating “I’m not the guy she married”. I thought the world was ending again. Over the ensuing 11 months, my life changed again. I forced myself to change my outlook again. Total transformation, go to the gym, new social circle, go shopping, a new found independence. I’ll leave it there, as I can write a book, in fact, I actually am.
I am a positive person, and with the help of my maker, I will go around, over, underneath, or thru any obstacle before me.
